Oldrich Lipsky's wry dark fantasy-comedy picks up at the end of it's story-the execution by beheading of cuckolded small-town butcher Bedrich Frydrych (Vladimir Mensik) for the jealous rage murders of his wife (Jaroslava Obermaierova) and her lover (Josef Abrham)-and the action proceeds in reverse from there, all the way back to the put-upon protagonist's birth.
